Two types of computer workstations are available at the University Library locations.
Library-owned thin clients
Who can use them?
- FU members (login with FU account)
- External users (login with library account)
Features:
- Operating system: Linux
- USB ports (for your own flash drives)
- Headphone jack
- LibreOffice (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Browser: Firefox
- Note-taking and screenshot functions
- Calculator & dictionary
Important: Always remove your USB drive immediately after logging out of the computer; otherwise, data may be lost. There is no safe ejection function.
FUB-IT PCs
Who can use them?
- FU students and staff
Equipment (may vary slightly by location):
- Operating system: Windows
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Reference management: Citavi, EndNote, Zotero
- Browser: Firefox, Edge
- USB ports
- Headphone jack
- Additional programs: Cisco Jabber, IZarc, PuTTY, VLC Media Player
Note: These PCs do not have a DVD drive. You can borrow one for free through our Primo service.
Laptops or other mobile devices
Of course, you are also welcome to bring and use your own laptop or tablet.
The following is available to you:
- Wi-Fi via eduroam or VPN
- Ethernet ports (at some workstations)
- Power outlets for charging
