The semiannual Una Europa General Assembly took place at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne from 27-29 May 2026. Researchers and staff of all Una Europa universities across all focus areas and working groups met for workshops. Central governance bodies such as the Student Board and Board of Directors came together in Paris for strategic meetings. Freie Universität's president Günter M. Ziegler and first Vice-President Verena Blechinger-Talcott participated in meetings at the General Assembly.

A key focus of the meetings was the preparation of reports for the final phase of the Una.Futura project as well as the maintenance and development of shared formats: project proposals, study programmes like the Joint Bachelor in European Studies and the Joint Bachelor in Sustainability, and formats for staff (staff weeks, job shadowing). The topic of  "student engagement" was a prominent focus of multiple working groups.

Representing the SSC Sustainability, Holger Dau and Moritz Zöllner highlighted the productive exchange made possible by the group's direct and personal networking in Paris. For the SSC Data Science & AI — represented at the General Assembly for the first time by Claudia Müller-Birn, Christian von Sikorski and Katharina Baum from Freie Universität — the focus was on interdisciplinary dialogue and networking with other groups within the Alliance. Jürgen Zentek, from the One Health focus area, described the General Assembly as a success, noting that internal planning for project proposals and joint initiatives has been significantly advanced.

Internationalization beyond Europe was another key theme. Daniel Schumann, attending in Paris on behalf of SSC Europe & the World, emphasized the importance of cooperation with Latin American universities. A networking event for participants of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) congress took place at the Maison Internationale of Université Paris 1, organized by Nora Jacobs in coordination with the Una Europa Subgroup Latin America. At this meeting, Verena Blechinger-Talcott introduced Una Europa to the guests and concluded:

"Given today's higher education and societal challenges, it is incredibly valuable to align shared research interests and leverage existing personal connections. Experience shows that these kinds of networking events often spark excellent ideas for innovative research collaborations, and we hope to see this positive impact ripple through Una Europa."

The Una Europa community will meet again in November 2026 to mark the end of the Una.Futura funding period and to review the achievements of the past four years.
